Troy - Erma Parkes, 91, of Troy, NY, devoted wife of the late Donald L. Parkes, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved mother of John E. Parkes (Jamie), Carol Sadlemire (Bob) and Linda Brace (Dick); loving grandmother to John M. Parkes (Julie), Melanie Parkes, the late Debi DelGiacco (Rich), Robert Sadlemire (Kathy), Laura (Kurt) Eisman, Terry Krueger (Lars) and Sarah Dobbrate (Rich). Erma was also blessed with 13 great grandchildren, Crystal, Valerie, Cheryl, Nicole, Johnna, Gina, Amber, Alec, Mattlyn, Mikayla, Alexia, Amelia and Emma.
Erma was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 26, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mattie Huggard and had three brothers, Max, Ralph and Phil Huggard from Salt Lake City and one sister, Merle DeLude from Cohoes, now all deceased. Some surviving relatives, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews reside in Utah. Some nieces and nephews in this area are Janet Madigan, Donna Stewart, Merle Ann Brust and Donald DeLude.
Erma spent many happy hours over all of her years with her family. Months after her husband passed away on May 16, 1987, she found great comfort in socializing with her friends from East Side Seniors. The family is very grateful for all of them.
Once again, we wish to thank, with great appreciation, the staff of Evergreen Commons, Dr. Burke, Julie, her nurses, aids and her wonderful most considerate therapists, for the care and personal attention they all gave to our Sweet Erma. Gone but never forgotten!
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Dr. Harold Carrier, Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
