Arshag (Archie) Soultanian, 69

North Greenbush - Arshag (Archie) Soultanian, 69, of Pershing Avenue North Greenbush died peacefully Friday October 16, 2009 with his family by his side, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn Albany after a long illness.

Born in Vauxhall, NJ, he was son of the late Varastad Soultanian and Arevnaz Nazaretian Soultanian. He had resided in resided in Troy most of his life and attended Troy High School.

Archie began his career as a butcher at Fairway Star Market in 1961 and owned and operated a meat market in Colonie until 1975. He later worked in sales at Capital Refrigeration, Langley Sliter Corporation, Boat and RV Warehouse, RV America and Today's Limousine.

He was a member of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church and the Knights of Vartan. Archie enjoyed making people laugh and was extremely proud of his family. A Navy veteran during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Valley Forge out of Norfolk, VA.

Survivors include his children, John (Laura) Soultanian of Jacksonville, FL, Debra (Randy) Zareski of Speigletown, Steven Soultanian of Waterford and Cynthia (Scott) Secor of Colonie; dear friend and companion, Victoria Childrose of Snyders Lake, brother, Haig Soultanian of Long Island; a sister, Sonia (Richard) Matulewicz of East Greenwich, RI; brother-in-law, Philip Natcharian of Latham; his grandchildren, Amanda and Jordan Zareski, Zachary, Nicole, Steven and Shannon Soultanian and Shaun Stevens and Alexis, Austin and Logan Secor and several additional nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Natcharian.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10AM at the St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy-Schenectady Road Watervliet with Rev. Stephanos Doudoukjian, Former Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-8PM.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
