Robin J. Wheeler, 65

Waterford - Robin J. Wheeler, 65, of Hudson River Road died Wednesday, June 02, 2010, at her residence after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with lung cancer.

Born in Waterford, she was daughter of the late Mary S. Wheeler and beloved friend and longtime companion of Bonnie McCaig and Donald G. Newell of Waterford. She had resided all her life in Waterford and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from University of Plattsburgh and her Master's and Education Administration from State University of New York at Albany.

Robin was the current Executive Manager of the New York State Council of Educational Associations, a Certified NYS Mental Health Counselor, and elementary school teacher, a school counselor, an educational administrator, taught graduate courses and supervised student internships.

She was a 50 year member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy and an Elder and the Church Treasurer. Robin had many hobbies including traveling and reading.

Survivors in addition to her companions include three nieces, Kiera (Curtis) Hovey of Waterford, Courtney (John) Savaria of Cohoes and Nichole J. Wheeler of Sarasota, FL; her great nieces and nephews, Jonathan Athans, Elaine Savaria, Myah Hovey and John Joseph Savaria IV. She was predeceased by her brother, Timothy Wheeler and an aunt, Margaret A. Wheeler.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at the 1st United Presbyterian Church 1915 Fifth Avenue Troy with Rev. Alexandra Lusak , Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 4-8 PM.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
