Elizabeth McBride Howells, 93

Troy - Elizabeth McBride Howells, 93, of Beechwood Apartments, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at her residence.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Thomas McBride and Isabel Weaver McBride, and wife of the late David Howells II.

She was raised in Troy and resided in Cropseyville for 43 years. A graduate of Emma Willard School, she attended Russell Sage College. She was a homemaker and community volunteer for most of her life.

Libby was active in the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Van Rensselaer Garden Club, Rensselaer County Historical Society, First United Presbyterian Church in Troy and a Golden and Emeritus member the Junior League of Troy having served over 50 years.

Survivors include a son, David (Janice) Howells III of Niskayuna; a daughter, Lynda B. (Faythe C. Hawley) Howells of Randolph, VT and two grandsons, Brian D. Howells of Boston and Derek M. Howells of Manhattan.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Alexandra Lusak, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 12 noon to 1PM prior to the service.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
