Wilhelmina 'Willy' Rossell

Wilhelmina 'Willy' van Almelo Rossell, 83 Troy Wilhelmina 'Willy' van Almelo Rossell, 83, of Burdett Avenue and formerly of Pinewoods Avenue Extension, died Friday at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Lexington, MA she was daughter of the late Alexander Frederik Kunst Heer van Almelo and Alida Anna Leplaa van Almelo and wife of Ernest W. 'Deac' Rossell for 59 years. She was raised in Nassau, NY, resided in the Troy and Brunswick areas since 1941, and was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology class of 1940, receiving her B.A. in merchandising. Mrs. Rossell was employed at John G. Myers Albany as an advertising manager, many years ago. She was a member of the American Red Cross, the Friendly Red Door, Ilium Literary Club, Memorial United Methodist Church (now Hope United Methodist), United Methodist Women, Troy Women's Club, the former Troy Club and a member of the Board of Directors of Troy Chromatic Concerts. Survivors in addition to her husband include a son William Frederik Rossell and wife Anette Schroeder-Rossell of London, England; a daughter Nicolle Rossell Landau and husband David of West Linn, OR; a granddaughter Frederike Wilhelmina Schroeder-Rossell; two sisters-in-law Lilyan F. van Almelo and Frances van Almelo and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers John F. van Almelo and Frederik K. van Almelo Jr. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at Hope United Methodist Church Route 2 Eagle Mills with Rev. David Martin, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Union City, PA. Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Rossell to Hope United Methodist Church 566 Brunswick Road Troy, NY 12180.
