Patricia Maloney Murphy, 78

BRUNSWICK Patricia Maloney Murphy, 78, died Friday, August 1, 2003. Best remembered for her quick wit, lively spirit and her love of life, family and friends, Pat Murphy was a life long resident of Troy, NY.

Pat Murphy was the daughter of the late John H. and Naomi R. McElligott Maloney. She was agraduate of Holy Names Academy, Russell Sage College (1947), and received Masters degreesfrom Columbia University School of Public Health and the State University of New York atAlbany School of Social Work.

Patricia Murphy began her career as a public health educator and caseworker. For many years she was a psychiatric social worker with the Rensselaer County Mental Health Clinic at Samaritan Hospital and a consultant for the Rensselaer County Surrogates Court and several area nursing homes. Since her retirement from Samaritan Hospital in 1991, Pat Murphy was a licensed realtor with Bryce Real Estate. She actively participated in several professional, social and philanthropic organizations, including as a member of the Board of Directors of the Troy- Cohoes YWCA.

Survivors include her daughter, Nora Ancona (Edgar) of Lake Forest, IL; her son John J. Murphy (Kathy) of Suffield, CT; and her grandchildren John Ancona of Lake Forest, IL and Megan, Annie and Sara Murphy all of Suffield. She was predeceased by a sister Marion Ryan.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Pawling at Maple Avenue Troy and at 9:30am from Our Lady of Victory Church, North Lake Avenue, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7pm. Interment shall be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy. Kindly omit flowers.
