We were saddened to hear of Myra's passing. She was our classmate at Theodore Roosevelt High School. Although, many years have passed since we last saw her, we still remember her passion for music, gentle ways and kindness. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

Dear Isom - It was with much sadness and sorrow that Gracie and I learned of Myra's passing. We have known each other for over 50 years. A flood of pleasant memories came rushing back to me. I'll never forget watching Myra lug her beloved bass cello along the athletic field to play for the sporting events. The cello seemed much larger than her small frame. Then several years later there was the Bible study fellowship that we enjoyed at each others home once a month. Also, we all worshiped at 6th Presbyterian Church for many years and we were both married there. We stayed with Myra and you in your beautiful home in Troy on several occasions. Myra was always gracious, warm, friendly, and playful. Myra, you are in a better place now. Like the Apostle Paul said, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord will award me in that Day." Dear Isom, You are in our prayers and thoughts as you go through this necessary period of grief and sorrow at the temporary loss of your beloved wife and companion. Love, Ted and Gracie

I am so sorry for your loss, and although I did not know your loved one personally, we share common bonds - having selected to attend Gettysburg College prior to 1970 and the increase in minority enrollment there; hailing from Washington, DC; and a love of music (I played in the Gettysburg marching band). Certainly, I am not as talented or accomplished as she was, but I love chamber and classical music, and I would have delighted in hearing/seeing her play or conduct. For sure, she will be missed and remembered for her contributions and service to the DC area schools and elsewhere. I also made a contribution to Gettysburg in honor of her and other African-American women graduates. May she rest in peace and all her family be comforted.

I was very sad to learn about Myra's passing. She was a gifted cellist and a delightful human being who I had the pleasure of knowing from playing with her in the Sage City Symphony and with other ensembles. Her talents and endearing personality will be truly missed.

My condolences to Jackie, Isom, Chris, Grey, and the entire family and friends of Ms. Myra. My mother Sarah went to Roosevelt High School in DC with Myra, and she was our piano teacher, as well. Ms. Myra was the inspiration for me playing the cello in elementary school. Of course, as Jackie's mom, we spent countless hours together at Sixth Presbyterian Church and at her home in DC. I, too have many early memories, and Ms. Myra will be fondly remembered always. Wishing your family God's Peace.
