George K. Rhoden, 55

Troy - George K. Rhoden, 55, of Pawling Avenue died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his residence after a 8 year courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late George Rhoden and Helen Seibert Rhoden and husband for 35 years of Nancy Miller Rhoden. He had resided in Troy all his life and was a graduate of Troy High School and took some online courses on Autism.

Mr. Rhoden was owner of an office cleaning business for 30 years and worked as a truant officer for the Troy City School District for 30 years.

He was baptized, November 14, 1976 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as an elder for 27 years. George enjoyed teaching children to play guitar and he played bass and rhythm guitar in the band "Northern Comfort". He was an avid motorcycle rider who's favorite place to go was the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, John Ryan, Sarasota, FL, Daniel Ryan, Newnan, GA and Timothy Ryan, Hudson; a daughter, Stacey Main, Windsor, CT; four sisters, Geraldine M. Jones, Troy, Linda E. Kimmey, Franklin, NC, JoAnn Gapp, Las Vegas, NV and Janet L. Eggleston, Johnstown; 7 grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his loving feline, Mason.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 02, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall 8876 State Route 66 Averill Park.

The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who took such excellent care of George during this 8 year journey.
