Frederick Z. Rescott, 70

West Sand Lake Frederick Z. Rescott, 70, of Rosemont Avenue, died suddenly Saturday at Albany Medical Center Hospital, after being stricken at home.

Born in Sand Lake, he was son of the late Clyde W. and Eunice L. Strong Rescott and husband for 30 years of Helen Shaver Rescott. He had resided all his life in West Sand Lake and was educated at Averill Park High School and Hudson Valley Community College.

Mr. Rescott was employed as a time study and methods engineer for Norton Company in Watervliet for 38 years retiring in 1994 and was a charter police officer for the former Town of Sand Lake Police Department for 10 years until its elimination.

He was an exempt fireman of the West Sand Lake Fire Company, and a member of the Norton Retirees and the Rensselaer County Law Enforcement Association.

He was a hospital corpsman in the US Navy during the Korean War, was transferred to the Fleet Marines as a medic and was wounded and was awarded the purple heart and silver star.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, LeeAnn Pierson of San Marcos, CA, Denise L. Rotella (Gary) of Lancaster, NY, Brenda J. Rescott of Auburn, Frederick E. Rescott (Dina) of Northport, NY, Kenneth D. Rescott (Dale) of Auburn, James P. Rescott (Lisa) of Castleton and Rodney A. Rescott (Michele) of Averill Park ; brothers and sisters, Clyde W. Rescott Jr.(Lois) of Merritt Island, FL, Eugene P. Rescott (Shirley) of West Sand Lake, Pauline Green (Dennis) of Houston, TX and Eunice Rescott of White River Junction, VT; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00am from Salem United Methodist Church Shaver Road in West Sand Lake with Rev. Louis Guariniello, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Interment Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Fred Rescott to the West Sand Lake Fire Company West Sand Lake, NY 12196.
