David J. Guyette

Troy - David J. Guyette, 90, died Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Samaritan Hospital after a long                illness.

Born in Green Island, he was son of the late Leonard Guyette and Margaret Hutchison Guyette and husband for 66 years of Kathaleen A. Guilana Guyette. He had resided in the Troy area most of his life, wintered in St. Pete Beach, FL for many years and attended Troy High School. 

Dave was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1984.  Upon his retirement, he worked as a funeral directors assistant at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. in Troy and DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. in West Sand Lake for several years.

He was a long time member of Brunswick Church where he was an Elder, a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and was involved for many years with the Boy Scouts, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster.  He enjoyed outdoor hobbies including hunting, fishing and construction projects..  Dave was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre. 

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, David P. Guyette, Irbil, Iraq and Timothy P. (Catherine) Guyette, Malta; five grandchildren, Sgt. David J. Guyette III, Colorado Springs, CO, Nicole Guyette, Colorado Springs, CO, Gary Guyette, Alexandria, NH and  Peter D and Christine M. Guyette, Malta; two great grandchildren, Daemon and Isabel Guyette; a sister, Catherine Hansbury, Spiegletown; two sisters-in-law, Rita Guyette, Lansingburgh and Marie E. Margosian, Troy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, JeanAnn Guyette; a sister, Marian Kane and a brother, Leonard A. Guyette.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, January 1, 2015 from 3-5 PM with a service at 5 PM. 

Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville on Friday, January 2nd at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of David J. Guyette to the Brunswick Church 42 White Church Lane Troy, NY 12180.
