Daniel J. Yamin, 84

Nassau - Daniel J. Yamin, 84, of Nassau went home to his heavenly Father on Friday, June 25, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Paul Yamin and Mary Koury Yamin and husband for 56 years of Anne C. DelGiacco Yamin. He had resided in Troy until 1968, then lived in Nassau and wintered in Clearwater and Vero Beach, FL. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School in South Troy, Catholic Central High School class of 1944 and the National School of Meat Cutting in Columbus, Ohio.

After serving in the Navy during World War II he operated, until 1978, the Concord Star Market in East Greenbush, a business started as a fruit stand by his parents and turned into a supermarket by him. Later he owned and operated Dan-D Auto Wash in East Greenbush and from 1980-1997 was a meat inspector for the US FDA, traveling the east coast inspecting slaughterhouses and meat processing plants.

He was a member of the Nassau American Legion, Director of the Tastsawassa Lake Youth Program and attended the West Stephentown Baptist Church, Grace Fellowship and Calvary Chapel in Vero Beach, FL.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Michele (Gene) Kohrs of Nassau, Daniel J. (Joleigh) Yamin Jr. of Troy, MaryBeth 'Beth' (Thomas) Lampron of Cohoes, Paul E. Yamin of East Greenbush, Anne (Reed) Philippi of Brunswick and Darien J. Yamin of Manhattan; a sister, Marian (Chester) Bridenbeck of Schodack; 11 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Yamin.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson , Pastor of the West Stephentown Baptist Church, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7PM with a brief prayer service at 7PM.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Daniel J. Yamin to the Capital City Rescue Mission or The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
