Michael G. Richardson, 53

Poestenkill - Michael G. Richardson, 53, of Bayberry Circle died Friday, May 3, 2013, at his residence after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Albany, he was son of Jean Rhenow Richardson of Guilderland and the late George H. Richardson. He was the devoted husband for 24 years of Joanne Piracci Richardson. Michael was raised in Guilderland and had resided in West Sand Lake and Poestenkill for the past 20 years. He was a graduate of Guilderland High School, earned his Bachelor's degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and his Master's degree from SUNY Albany.

Michael was a science teacher for Berlin Central School District for 22 years, retiring in 2011.

He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Giants, Yankees and Sabres. In addition to coaching the Berlin High School basketball team, he devoted much of his time to little league baseball and Averill Park Youth Basketball. He loved golf, was a member of Burden Lake Country Club, enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, listening to music, and astronomy. His main love was spending time with family and friends.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include a daughter, Katherine J. Richardson, Poestenkill; a son, Scott M. Richardson, Poestenkill and a sister, Brenda Richardson, Mastic Beach, NY.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry's Church 39 Old Route 66 Averill Park on Monday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 12 noon at St. Henry's Church where where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.
