Mary Harris Clickner, 79

Brunswick - Mary Harris Clickner, 79, of Moonlawn Road, Eagle Mills, died peacefully Wednesday, October 22 at home.

Born in Shaftsbury, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Theresa McGuire Harris. She resided in the Shaftsbury area, graduated North Bennington High School and St. Joseph's Business College. Mrs. Clickner was a secretary at BenMont Papers, Inc for nearly ten years prior to her marriage. She married Shirley H. Clickner and they made their home in Eagle Mills. Shirley passed away 10 years ago.

Mary was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis de Sales Church in Troy where she taught religion classes for many years. She was a 4-H club leader and had volunteered at the office of the New York State Head Injury Association (currently called the Brain Injury Association). Most recently, she was employed part time in the Brittonkill School District.

Survivors include Mary's children, Karen Clickner Douttiel and her husband, David Douttiel; Arlene Mehner and her husband, Thomas Mehner; Allen H. Clickner; Sylvia Bornt and her husband, Gerald Bornt; and Paul E. Clickner and his wife, Susan Clickner. Mary has fourteen grandchildren: Kimberlee C. King; Kartrina C. Charland and her husband, Dustin Charland; Kerrin C. King and Cale Boyce; Oliver Mehner; Sophia Mehner; Emily Mehner; Anna Rose Mehner; Tressa Bornt, Joseph Bornt; Laura Beth Bornt; Shannon Rutherford, Cody Clickner, Tyler Clickner, and Abigail Clickner. She has a great-granddaughter, Hali Rutherford, and numerous extended family members. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Dr. Annora McGarry, Bernard J. Harris, George F. Harris, Charles M. Harris, and Theresa E. Jackson.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 8:30am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy and at 9am from St. Francis de Sales Church , 316 Congress Street, Troy where at Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment immediately following will be in the Eagle Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday, October 24 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm.

Contributions may be made in the memory of Mrs. Clickner to the Brain Injury Association of New York State, 10 Colvin Avenue Albany NY 12206 or the Eagle Mills Volunteer Fire Department, 627 Brunswick Road Troy NY 12180.
