Troy Judith D. Meighan Valenti, 64, of Pawling Avenue, died Monday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of Julia F. Tracey Meighan of Troy and the late William R. Meighan and wife of retired Troy Police Department Captain Patrick Valenti. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Troy High School.
Mrs. Valenti was employed as a claims examiner for the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services for 27 years retiring 6 years ago. Prior to that she was a homemaker and worked at the Department of Taxation and Finance and the Department of Labor.
She was a member of the Great Dane Association of America, American Kennel Club and a communicant of St. Williams Church in Troy. Mrs. Valenti raised and trained Great Dane show dogs.
Survivors in addition to her husband and mother include three daughters, Victoria L. Long and husband William of North Greenbush, Julianne Valenti of Troy and Antoinette Madsen and husband James of Troy; two sons, Patrick A. Valenti Jr. of Troy and Joseph G. Valenti and wife Constance of Clifton Park; two sisters, Dorothy Vasquez and husband Miguel of Troy and Patricia Futia and husband Joseph of North Greenbush; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mai Valenti and their daughters Jossette and Mary Catherine Valenti; six grandchildren, Asa Ian and Evan Madsen, Breanne Long and Domonique and Gianna Valenti; a great-granddaughter Miya Madsen and five nieces and nephews Lavena Trong, Dena Fiacco, Cristina Cannistraci, William Maselli and Jane Paladino. She was predeceased by a niece Angelina R. Futia.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from St. William's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8pm.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
