Helen Lambert (Bobbie) Savage, 89

Troy - Helen Lambert (Bobbie) Savage, 89, of Eddy Beechwood Apartments passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at her residence after a long illness.

Born in Hudson, MA, she was the daughter of the late Donald C. Lambert and Emma Gwillow Lambert and wife of the late Dr. Warren F. 'Doc' Savage. She was raised in Massachusetts and resided most of her life in Troy and Averill Park and was a graduate of Oak Grove Seminary for Girls in Vassalboro, ME.

Mrs. Savage was a lab technician for the Lowell Blood Lab in Lowell, MA many years ago and for many years was a homemaker.

She was a Sunday school teacher and church school leader for Poestenkill Evangelical Church , Chair of Sunday school for the Third Presbyterian Church in Albia, a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, jewelry silversmith, a volunteer for the Sand Lake Library and a member of the Sand Lake/Poestenkill Council on the Arts. She and her husband traveled the world and she was an avid gardener.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon A. (David B.) Mardon, Taborton; a son, Donald F. (Kate) Savage, Troy; 4 grandchildren, Troy M. Barger, Alexander F. (Marcy) Savage, Jeremy D. (Gail) Wood and Jessica C. (Job) Tobey; 7 great grandchildren, Noah A. Wood, Danielle R. Wood, Cloe M. Tobey and Piper R. Tobey, Preston JW Wood, Madeline M. Savage and Kaia J. Tobey, and a sister, Muriel 'Happy' (William) Fuller, Peterborough, NH.

Bobbie would light up a room when she entered. She was a loving wife and mother, always taking an active role in the activities and events of her children. In her later years, she found great joy being with family, surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the surrogate mother to hundreds of PhD candidates from RPI during her husband's career.

She was a gentle soul with a positive attitude and a warm sense of humor, was deeply loved, and will be sorely missed by all.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Saturday from 3-5 PM with a funeral service to follow at 5 PM with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating.
