Helen M. Patrick Canavan , 84

Troy Helen M. Patrick Canavan , 84 ,of McClelland Avenue Troy passed away Friday, January 7, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Patrick and Mildred LaMore Patrick and wife of the late James E. Canavan.

She was raised in Mechanicville and had resided in the Troy area most of her life and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mrs. Canavan was an operator for Nashua Corporation for 5 years until 1974 and previously worked for RPI in food service for several years. Many years ago she danced and performed at the Hendrick Hudson Hotel, she enjoyed bowling and was devoted to her family.

She was a communicant of St. Williams Church in Troy.

Survivors include two sons, James P. 'Skip' Canavan of Troy and Terrance S. Canavan (Jackie) of Averill Park; a daughter, Patricia L. Laurey of Niskayuna; four grandchildren, David J. Laurey of Niskayuna and Brett M. Laurey of Clifton Park, and Terrance J. (Michele) Canavan and Eric M. Canavan all of Averill Park and a great granddaughter, Katielynn M. Canavan of Averill Park..

Funeral service will be held Monday, at 11:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Michael Crandall, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment Memory's Garden, in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Canavan to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
