Troy - A graveside service will be held for 'Ellie on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Those wishing to attend will meet at 1:45 p.m. in front of the Gardner Earl Chapel directly off the main entrance on Oakwood Avenue. The Rev. Michael I. Gorchov, Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Troy, will officiate. Always of a good heart and cheerful disposition, Ellie's motto was: "Laugh in the face of a storm." She is survived by a brother, a niece and a grandniece.

Katherine Nelson Whiton, her mother, will be buried next to her. Wife of deceased Troy attorney Harry F. Whiton, Kate worked for many years as a librarian at the Troy Public Library. Her motto was: "Believe each day to have dawned as your last. And then do good." She, too, had the gift of laughter.
