Elaine Caroline Houle GreenSeptember 18, 2009
East Greenbush - Elaine Caroline Houle Green, 88, of Collins Road died Friday, September 18, 2009, at Evergreen Commons East Greenbush after a long illness.
Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Frances Xavier Houle and Gladys M. VanAlstyne Houle and wife for 69 years of William Mixter Green Jr. She had resided in Green Island and was a graduate of Heatley High School in Green Island.
Mrs. Green was a postal clerk for the US Postal Service in East Greenbush.
She was a 4-H leader, a member of the West Sand Lake and East Greenbush Grange, the Best-Luther Ladies Auxiliary and an officer in the Schodack Senior Center. She was a member of the Capitolers - a toll painting group and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors in addition to her husband include two daughters, Sharon Elaine Green of Wynantskill and Linda Frances (Robert) Dayton of Cropseyville; two sons, William Mixter (Helen) Green III of East Nassau and Robert John (Joyce) Green of East Nassau; two brothers, Frederick Houle of Green Island and John Barton Houle of Endicott; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Concra, Shaun Reehl, Jennifer Simmons, Aimee Bishop, Jason and Joshua Green and Heather Showers; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, William Mixter Green IV and two brothers, Bernard and Francis Xavier Houle Jr.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-8 PM.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Commons for the wonderful care and loving support given to Elaine.
