We want to thank The Arc of Rensselaer County community who supported Doug throughout his life. A special thanks to Jeff Smithson, the Hoags Corners Ambulance, and the Samaritan Hospital Emergency room who helped Doug in his final moments.
Doug touched the lives of many family, friends and people in the community. Although Doug did not verbally communicate he said a lot through his eyes and facial expressions. He had many challenges in his life, however, he continued to thrive with the help of all his family, friends and community. He and his brother taught many to have respect and acceptance of people with differing abilities. He had a great love for kids, camping, family and friends. He volunteered at the Unity House Day Care and preschool program delivering lunches. He participated in a weekly art class at Brunswick Center where he met wonderful friends. He wasn't quite the artist his brother was but he definitely enjoyed being with his friends.
Doug will be missed by all that loved and befriended him. He was a blessing in all our lives.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-7 PM with a service to follow at 7PM.
All are invited to attend the interment at Blooming Grove Cemetery, Blooming Grove Drive in Rensselaer on Tuesday at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the ARC of Rensselaer County, Art Program 79 102nd Street Troy, NY 12180.
