Obituary

West Sand Lake - William J.A. Young Jr., 82, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late William J. Young Sr. and Elizabeth Vittaly Young and husband of the late Brenda  Pfeiffer Young. He was raised in Troy and resided in West Sand Lake since 1961 and was a graduate of Troy schools and attended the Junior College of Albany. 

Bill was employed by John V. Warren Inc., mechanical contractors in Rensselaer for 47 years beginning as Secretary-Treasurer and retiring in 2008 as Vice President.

Bill owned #28, race car that ran at Lebanon Valley, among other tracks, with several drivers including Tommy Corellis and Ken Goodermote.  He was also a member of the Burden Lake Country Club since 1983 and enjoyed golf and bowling at Hi-Way Recreation and Bowling Green.    

Survivors include a son, William J. Young III, West Sand Lake and a daughter, Lisa Ann Young Ferguson, Key Largo, FL. 

The celebration of life will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Burden Lake Country Club 162 Totem Lodge Road, Averill Park.

A family interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of William J.A. Young Jr. to The Community Hospice (Gift Processing Center) 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
