W. Harry Prout Obituary

Brunswick - W. Harry Prout, 87, died peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late George H. Prout and M. Freda Stryker Prout and beloved husband for 63 years of Elissa Robison Prout. He had resided in the Troy area all his life and was a graduate of Rochester Institute  of Technology with a degree in Graphic Arts and Printing Management. 

Harry worked with his father beginning in 1953 at their business, The Prout Printers, Inc. in Troy.  The business is now run by his son, William H. Prout, Jr.

Active in local organizations, he was a member of the Apollo-King Solomon's Masonic Lodge, a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Troy, a Past Potentate of Oriental Shriners, a Director of the Society of the Friends of St. Patrick, Palestine Star Chapter of OES and a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy. Harry had a love for woodworking and teaching his grandchildren the art and was a member of the Northeastern Woodworkers Association. Many special memories continue to be made at Harry’s family camp at Brant Lake, NY.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean War stationed in Korea and Hawaii.  

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, William H. (Robin) Prout Jr, Wynantskill and James E. (Wendy) Prout, Esq., Brunswick; two daughters, Carol L. (Simone Rossi) Prout, Grassina (Florence), Italy and Alison P. (John) Stipkovich, Kirtland, OH; his grandchildren, Mackenzie (Matthew) Shorter, William (Lauren) Prout, III, Olivia (Daniel) Plunkett, Elissa Ann Prout, Kathryn Prout and Emily, Anna and Matthew Stipkovich; his great grandchildren, Miles and Maisie Shorter and a little Plunkett on the way.  He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Speed.

Funeral service private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
