Brunswick - Uldis A. Vitolins passed away on Monday December 18, 2023, at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Uldis was born on December 30, 1953, in Cobleskill, NY, to the late Andrejs and Zinaida Vitolins.
Uldis, affectionately known as Uldi, spent his early years working in construction and carpentry alongside his father, laying a foundation for his reputation as someone who could build and fix just about anything. Uldis completed his studies at Troy High School, and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Siena College.
Professionally, Uldis had a fulfilling career in consumer credit, working for companies such as Sears, Gardenway, GE Credit, and Capital Cardiology.
Beyond his professional life, Uldis served as a Girl Scout leader for his daughter Tammy’s troop. His dedication earned him the honor of becoming a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America, an accolade that spoke volumes about his character.
An outdoor enthusiast, Uldis delighted in camping, canoeing, backpacking, skiing, fishing, and boating. His love for adventure saw him complete three grueling 90-mile canoe races with his dear friend, Bill Conner. Uldis also had a need for speed, drag racing his Z28 Camaro at Lebanon Valley. In addition, he enjoyed capturing life’s moments through photography.
Uldis was a family man through and through. He was proud of his Latvian heritage and enjoyed sharing his traditions with family and friends. He introduced his wife and daughters to the joys of the great outdoors. Backpacking, wilderness camping, canoeing, and vacationing on Cape Cod became cherished annual activities for the family.
Uldis's life was enriched by his loving family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan Vitolins; his daughters, Tamara Ouimet (Mike), and Laura Roberts (Erick); his treasured grandsons, Finnegan Adams and Henry Ouimet. His siblings, Modris Vitolins, Nora Roullier (Kurt), Daphne Jones, brother-in-law Ken Fisher (Evie), and brother-in-law Ron Fisher, along with several nieces and nephews.
The legacy of Uldis Vitolins is one of love, resilience, and the pursuit of life’s simple pleasures. Uldis’s life was a testament to the belief that the most profound joys come from the relationships we nurture, the experiences we share, and the natural world we explore.
