Thomas "Tom" Smith

North Greenbush - Thomas “Tom” Smith, 87, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. 

He was the son of the late Earl and Gladys Smith and the beloved husband of Joyce Smith of North Greenbush. 

He is survived by his sons Eric (Suzanne) Smith of Bernville, PA, and Todd (Stacy) Smith of Wynantskill, and by his grandchildren Cameron and Olivia Smith of Wynantskill. He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

After honorably serving his country in the United States Air Force, Tom enjoyed a rewarding career with the New York State Thruway Authority. In retirement, Tom was an avid fan of RPI Hockey in the winter, the New York Yankees in the summer and served as the unofficial Team Bus for his grandchildren’s sporting events year-round.

The Smith family is grateful for the loving care Tom received from the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor, especially those in Unit B-1, and for the compassionate support of the team at The Community Hospice.

At Thomas’s request, funeral services were private. 

Burial took place at Eagle Mills Cemetery in Eagle Mills, NY.
