Troy - Thaddeus “Ted” Andrew Kokernak, 90, died Friday, March 1, 2024, at his residence after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Watervliet, he was son of the late Edward Kokernak and Genevieve Dlugokencka Kokernak and husband of the late Dolores A. Mancino Kokernak, who was the love of his life. He had resided on Stow Hill since 1956 and was a graduate of Watervliet High School.
Ted was a security officer and warehouse worker at BASF in Rensselaer for 12 years, retiring 30 years ago.
He coached South Troy Little League, enjoyed bowling, fishing, gambling and was a consummate family man. Family was everything to him. He loved trips to the casino with Barb followed by steaks by Ed, spending time with his best friends, Gehrig and Brahms who loved their Biggie and trips to Joe and Karyn’s camp up north. Ted was a Navy veteran of the Korean War stationed on the USS Bototourt (APA-136) in the Caribbean and Central America.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Ann (Edward) Divinsky; his son Joseph (Karyn) Kokernak; his grandchildren, Matthew (Rene) Kokernak, Schuyler (Leonard) Baker, David (Lindsey) Divinsky and Victoria Divinsky and his great grandchildren, Jordan and Caleb Smith, Tucker, Nora and Dash Kokernak, Gehrig and Brahms Baker. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Kokernak.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 3-5 PM.
Funeral service will be held Monday, at 9:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Kacerguis, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
