Brunswick, NY - Tami S. Gundrum Riley, 56, passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at her residence in Brunswick. She was the loving wife of Harold Neil Riley for 11 years. She was the proud and devoted mother of her two children, who were her world, Tyler John Peter and Marlena Christine Peter. She was also a loving mother of her two fur babies, Oz and Emmy. She was predeceased by her sister, Jessie A. Syczyk (2006) and is survived by her brother John J. 'Jack' (Jan) Gundrum Jr. of Latham; her sister, Sandra J. Massey of Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late John J. Gundrum, Sr. and Maud (Turner) Gundrum. She spent summers as a young girl with her parents at Moffit Beach in Speculator, NY. Among the many friends Tami made over the years, she always had a special place in her heart for her childhood best friend, Casey Mancinelli. She was a graduate of Troy High School and attended some classes at Hudson Valley College.
Tami was Vice President and Senior Manager of Treasury Services for Key Bank Albany for the past 15 years, where she was a friend and co-worker to many who remember her as a steadfast, humorous, caring and vivacious leader. She previously worked at Marine Midland Bank in Watervliet, Fleet Bank & Chase Manhattan Bank in Albany, and Citizens Bank in Newcomb.
Through and through, she was a loving person with a heart of gold and a real sense of humor. She volunteered for a time at the Albany Soup Kitchen. As a young woman, she loved to go out dancing. As a Mother, she would dance around the kitchen to Cher, Def Leppard, Ricky Martin and others as she whipped up family-favorite meals. She shared her love of rock music concerts with her husband and kids. She was modest about her own musical talents but had a lovely singing voice and played piano, including selections from Bach. She enjoyed crafting, computer puzzles, travelling, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, mountains, beaches, and coffee.
