Stewart Colgrove Allen

West Sand Lake - Stewart Colgrove Allen, 77, died Monday, November 6, 2023, at St. Peter's Hospital Albany, after a long illness.

Born in Albany, he was son of the late Edward C.A. Allen and Marie Ann Jean Allen and husband for 45 years of Linda A. Karichkowsky Allen. He had resided 2 years in Albany and was raised on Peck Road in West Sand Lake. He was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in accounting.

Stewart was an examiner for the New York State Department of Labor for 35 years, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club since 1969, a life member of the NRA and a member of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter, Rhoda Hale of Talihina, OK and his grandchildren, Ashley Hale of Somersworth, NH and Taylor (Nissa) Hale and 2 great grandchildren of Troy, NY.  Also survived by close friends Bob and Corinne Hale and daughters Megan and Julie of West Sand Lake, NY; Barbara and Daniel Balascio of Port Charlotte, FL. 

A private family graveside service will be held at New Rural Cemetery at a later date.
