Loudonville - Steven “Steve” Charles Rea, 69, died suddenly Thursday, September 23, 2021, at his residence.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Clyde W. Rea and Elizabeth “Libby” Meeks Rea. He was raised in Troy, resided in Loudonville for over 50 years and was a graduate of Troy High School and Albany Business College.
Steven worked for the NYS Senate in the Bill Drafting Department for 30 years, retiring in 2010. Senator Joe Bruno was his friend and mentor.
He enjoyed golfing for many years and was a longtime member of Wolferts Roost Country Club. He traveled the world but was always happy to return home and have a good Italian meal. Steve was an avid sports fan especially Siena basketball who's games he often attended in person. He loved listening to music and attending concerts with friends. He and his friend, Jim Laird shared a love of baseball and traveled to many games.
He is survived by his sister, Jane (Paul) R. Crotty, New York; his brother, Woody (Laura) Rea, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; two nieces, Elizabeth R. Crotty and Brooke A. Rea; three nephews, John A.Crotty and David R. Crotty and Clyde W. Rea III known as Tripp Rea; two grand nieces, Caroline J. and Claudia S. Crotty; a grand nephew and Cameron Rea. Also survived by his cousins, Eileen Rea, Douglas Rea, Norman Rea, Bob Rea, William "Bill" Rea, Paul Rea and Dee Rea Sutton and his aunt, Amelia Rea. He was so thankful to also have his home helper “Chun” in his life for many years.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, October 1, 2021 for a viewing from 11AM-12:30 PM followed by a service and interment at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Face covering and social distancing are required if not vaccinated.
