Steven John Patrick of Wynantskill, NY, 64, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
Steven was born in Troy, New York, on August 5, 1958. He is predeceased by his parents, the late Elizabeth B. Patrick and James K. Patrick, Jr., as well as by his brothers Thomas and David. He will be greatly missed by his brothers James K. Patrick, III (Nancy) of North Greenbush, and William B. Patrick (Carmel) of Schenectady. Long considered “the cool Uncle,” Steve will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, James (Stephanie), Lori Cabrera (Will), Courtney, Tarin (Dan), and Caleb (Katherine), as well as by his great-nieces and -nephews, Kyle, Elizabeth,
Margaret, Lily, and Theo.
Steve graduated from Albany Academy in 1976, and attended the University of Vermont. During the 1980’s, his passion for fine food and wine led to a successful career with a New York-based Italian importing company, the former Club du Faison. Steve enjoyed sharing stories about his adventures with Club du Faison, including one memorable event that he catered for Prince Charles.
His family also benefited from Steve’s culinary talents, enjoying picnic treats he made to celebrate his mom’s birthday at her favorite summer place, the Saratoga Racetrack; or cautiously sampling a never-ending supply of his “better have a cold drink nearby” homemade hot sauces. Since 2005, Steve dependably delivered Meals on Wheels to older adults throughout Albany County for LifePath, formerly Senior Services of Albany. Steve’s colleagues there relied on him as a ‘Jack of All Trades,’ and we know his clients will miss his daily visits. His family greatly appreciates the care and concern that the LifePath team showed to Steve over his last days. Steve was a passionate outdoorsman. And although his capacity for the “extreme” kayaking and biking of his youth may have diminished in more recent years, Steve’s weekends spent as a volunteer Mountain Host at Whiteface helped him maintain “ski bum” status on his beloved slopes until his final days.
64 in years, but 21 in spirit, Steve forged his own path to the end.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, February 06, 2023 from 4 - 6PM.
A private interment at a later date will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Waterford.
