Rensselaer - Shirley Larkin Butterfield, 96, died Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Averill Park, she was the daughter of Willis D. Larkin Sr. and Alice E. Kells Larkin and wife of the late Richard E. Butterfield. She was a lifelong resident of the town of Sand Lake and most recently Rensselaer, NY.
Shirley was a 1944 graduate of Averill Park High School. She returned to her alma mater as an Administrative Assistant in the late 1960s and retired in the early 1990’s.
Shirley cherished spending time with her family and looked forward to summer vacation at the family cottage in York Beach, Maine. She loved animals, enjoyed gardening, genealogy, reading and keeping up on current events.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Butterfield (Dennis) Urgento, NC; a son, R. Jay (Kelly) Butterfield; her grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Lasch, Hayden (Kelly) Butterfield, Stacey Urgento, Ryan (Sabrina) Urgento and Spencer Butterfield; 7 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. She was predeceased by a son , Richard L. (Cathy) Butterfield; grandsons, Eric (Roberta) Butterfield, Colton Butterfield, and her brother, Willis D. Larkin Jr.
Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392NY 150 West Sand Lake on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 11AM - 1PM with funeral service at 1PM with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush, officiating.
Interment will be in Sand Lake Union Cemetery, Sand Lake.
