Sharon L. Bedford, D.O.

Troy - Sharon L. Bedford, D.O., 75, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Albany Medical Center Hospital due to an illness that she acquired while traveling.

Born in East Lansing, MI, she was daughter of the late Clifford L. Bedford and Dorothy Smith Bedford and married for 31 years to Frederick C. Alm. She was raised in East Lansing, Michigan, resided in Montana and Long Island before moving to Troy in 1989. She was educated at Michigan State University and completed her residency at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue.

Sharon was a Doctor of Osteopathy at Partners In Family Medicine in Troy for 26 years, retiring 10 years ago. She was a 20-year board member of Capital Roots, a Certified Master Gardener, an avid trail worker for Hudson Taconic Lands, and a fierce warrior for the planet through her advocacy for the environment.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a brother, James Bedford; two sisters, Janet Bedford Dye and Mary (Joe) Bedford-Hart and six nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date. Interment was a green burial in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands on January 28, 2026.
