Brunswick-Sgt. Andrew Francis O'Mara, 74, passed away peacefully at home on December 11th surrounded by family.
Andrew was a Vietnam veteran serving in 1965-1968 with the 9th infantry division and the 716th MP battalion. He was awarded a bronze star with V device for valor, Vietnam Service medal with two campaign stars. Andrew served 23 years with the New York State Police, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He also served as the Emergency Management non commissioned officer for troop T. Prior to the state police, he served for 7 years with the New York State parkway police on Long Island.
Most notably, he was a loving husband to Alana O'Mara and devoted father to daughters, Bonny O'Mara and Alison (Ben) Bornhorst. Andrew always put his family first and will be deeply missed.
Funeral service private at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
