Brunswick - Ruth L. Phillips, 92, died peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at her residence.
Born in Schenectady, she was daughter of the late George A. LaGraff and Ruby R. Ralston LaGraff and wife of the late Dr. Richard H. Phillips Sr. She was raised in Schenectady and resided in Philadelphia, East Acres in Troy and Loudonville for 20 years. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady and earned her Bachelor's degree from New York State Teachers College in Albany.
Ruth was a school teacher for junior high and high school at Tamarac and a substitute teacher at Troy schools for 15 years, retiring 32 years ago.
She was a member of The Country Club of Troy where she played tennis and golf, a member of the Van Rensselaer Garden Club, the Rensselaer County Junior Museum and loved to play bridge. She was the bridge 'queen'.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Phillips Bloomfield, Wynantskill; her grandchildren, Michael James Bloomfield, Richard 'Tad' H. (Crystal) Phillips III, Brunswick and Brenton Corey (Kortney Otis) Phillips, Latham; her great grandchildren, Zoe Phillips, Richard H. Phillips IV, Everlee Phillips and Ruth was ecstatic about the soon arrival of the Phillips triplets; and a brother, Prof. John E. LaGraff, Syracuse. She was predeceased by her son, Richard H. Phillips, Jr. And a sister, Margaret Birch.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday April, 21 2023 from 11AM to 12NOON with a service to follow at 12NOON.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
