Troy - Ruth N. Caruso, 99, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness.
Born in Troy, Ruth was the daughter of the late William L. Kelly and Pauline Nold Kelly and wife of the late Michael J. Caruso. She grew up in Troy and lived the majority of her life in Eagle Mills. Ruth was a graduate of Troy High School, Mildred Elley, and attended Hudson Valley Community College.
As a community-minded homemaker. Ruth was a former Cub Scout leader and a 4-H District leader for 20 years. Other activities included membership in Vanguard, The Birchkill Arts and Crafts Guild, Opera Buffs and Capital Artist Resident Opera Company, and the Country Club of Troy. A favorite activity of hers was dressing up as a clown and making animal balloons for visits to the children’s wing as one of her Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary roles.
She was predeceased by son, Paul (Cecelia) Caruso, Lake City, FL and survived by her children, Mark (Cindy) Caruso of Troy, Karin (Paul Schneiderman) Caruso of Stratham, NH, and Adam (Kathy) Caruso of Troy; two grandchildren, Lyndsay (Adam) Goss and Michael P. Caruso, and three great-grandchildren, Lily, Evelyn, and Jerry Goss of Exeter, NH.
Family will have a closed viewing followed by funeral services at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. officiated by Pastor Dave Martin of Hope United Methodist Church where Ruth was a long-time member. Face covering and social distancing are required both outside and inside during visitation and services. Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery, Eagle Mills.
