Rose "Connie" Cornelia (Weaver) Kelly

Cohoes - Rose Cornelia Kelly passed peacefully at Eddy Village Green on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the age of 90. Affectionately known as “Connie” to most, she was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor and friend. 

She was born to the late Oswald King Weaver and Anna Wilson Weaver on August 26, 1934, the third of five children. She grew up in Lansingburgh, NY, graduated from Lansingburgh High School and briefly attended Russell Sage College. Connie was a reservations agent for American Airlines in New York City and Albany for several years, but the role she enjoyed most was being a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

On September 7, 1957, she married the love of her life Erwin J. Kelly in Troy, NY and enjoyed 52 wonderful years by his side until Erwin’s passing in 2009. Together they were devoted parents to their children, Katherine and Peter. As a child she summered in Lake George, a tradition that she and Erwin carried on with their children and grandchildren. It was their happy place. 

“Organized” was Connie’s hallmark, she was a master list maker and meticulous housekeeper. She was a faithful communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham, NY and enjoyed visiting with other regular parishioners at each Saturday’s 4:30 mass. Connie volunteered frequently with Extra Helpings Food Pantry and the Regional Food Bank. In 2013, she found new community at Shaker Pointe at Carondelet and enjoyed their many activities, including fitness classes and social events.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Mark) Thompson, Homewood, IL; her son, Peter J. (Janice) Kelly, Watervliet, NY; her grandchildren, Michael (Amanda) Thompson, Peter Thompson, Sarah (Michael) Mangino and Andrea Kelly (fiancé Ryan Telian); one great-granddaughter, Hadley (Thompson); her brother, King Weaver; her sister, Frances (Byron) Prahm; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and two sisters, Anne Oby and Marilyn Myers. 

Visitation will be held at St. Ambrose Church (347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY) on Tuesday, January 14th from 9-10am, immediately followed at 10:00 am by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Brian Kelly, Pastor. Interment following the mass will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy, NY.
