May 19, 1929 ~ April 12, 2023 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Obituary

Mashpee, MA - Rose S. Topian, 93, of Taurus Drive, Mashpee, MA and Country Way, Brunswick and formerly Meadowlawn Avenue in Sycaway, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Rose was ready to be with her beloved husband, the love of her life, Anthony "Toby" Topian. She was born in Cambridge, MA on May 19, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Hagop and Grace Sunukjian.

Mrs. Topian was a senior stenographer for the State Commerce Department and Tax Credit for nine years.  She was also employed at Samaritan Hospital for 33 years, later returning for 18 years of part time work. She always referred to them as her second family. She was an active member of the Sycaway Seniors, enjoyed her aerobics at the ‘Y’ and water aerobics.

Rose loved to travel and visited every beach on the east coast and the Caribbean Islands, and enjoyed several cruises with “the cruise buddies.”

In May 2019, Rose moved to Cape Cod to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She quickly joined the Mashpee Senior Center, made new friends and became active in canasta card groups, day trips with the seniors, and weekly Scrabble games.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” (Mark) Mayfield of Mashpee, MA who was “her advocate, caregiver, advisor, friend, traveling companion and most of all her support team having a strong love and bond with each other; her son, David (Mary) Topian whom she adored and loved listening to him with all his ideas of how he could solve the world's problems, sitting by the pool with their coffee in the mornings.”

She adored her 5 grandchildren, Katelyn Rose Camillucci (Christopher), Justin Rivers (Kohar), Alison Leigh, Trevor Anthony (Kayla) and Shauna Bridget. She shared many wonderful times with them, never missing a performance they were involved in during their school years or outside activities. She loved how each child was so unique in their own way and her love towards each one was exceptional. In August, 2022, Bennett Rivers, her first great-grandchild was born and soon became a special joy in her life. Also survived by her sister Joyce (Jerry) Popp, whom she felt she helped raise and loved so much, and two affectionate nieces, Jennifer and Jill, whom she thanks so much for being there for her in Troy.

Rose had many close friends from her years at Samaritan Hospital and her time in Troy, many of whom she kept in touch with over the recent years.

Rose was a long time member of Memorial United Methodist Church and later, Hope United Methodist Church.
