Ronald Allen Shackett

Brunswick - Ronald Allen Shackett, 74, died Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital after a long  illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late George J. Shackett and Adrienne LaBlanc Shackett and husband for 22 years of Deborah Van Gelder Shackett. He was a lifelong resident of Troy and was a graduate of Averill Park High School. 

Ron was employed as a mechanic for Niagara Mohawk Power Company for 33 years, retiring in 2006.

He was a member of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks #2556 and loved camping, travel and doing winter puzzles.  He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Suzie Ho, Jason (Sara) Shackett, Eric (Riann) Shackett, Kathleen Hatt, Tonia Coleman and Terri Crounse; his siblings, George J. Shackett, Jeanne Stinson and Marie Maschewski; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son, Robert Coleman and two brothers, John and Robert Shackett.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the military service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Road Schuylerville on August 30, 2024 at 11AM.  Please arrive at the cemetery entrance by 10:45AM.
