Roger Allen Hammer

East Greenbush - Roger Allen Hammer, 86, formerly of Minneapolis, MN died Monday, May 10, 2021, at Evergreen Commons.

Born in San Francisco, CA on November 11, 1934, Roger was the son of the late Paul Adolph and Margaret Josephine (Lilly) Hammer. Roger became a Journalist, worked for the Associated Press, Honeywell International and eventually operated his own publishing company, A Place in the Woods, in Minneapolis. Roger’s publishing efforts focused on championing the underdogs of society, such as minority and civil rights groups, American Indians, women, and children handicapped by physical or other disabilities. He was an Army veteran.

Roger was predeceased by his only son, Stephen Allen Hammer, and his brother, Paul Edward Hammer, and is survived by his daughter, Calli and husband Tom Sigfrinius of Anoka, MN and grandchildren Katie and John.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Jude the Apostle Church  43 Brookside Avenue Wynantskill on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 12-1PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1PM.  Face covering and social distancing are required at all times both outside and inside during visitation and services.
