Obituary

West Sand Lake - Robert R. Hinsdill, 85, longtime resident of Orchard Lane in West Sand Lake died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Colonial Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center Rome, NY.

Born and raised in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Roger C. Hinsdill and Evora M. Holmes Hinsdill.

Bob proudly served the Troy community as the third generation owner and operator of Hinsdill Electric on River Street.

Bob was in the Troy High graduating class of 1955.  After school he joined his father to continue the electrical wholesale business his grandfather had started in downtown Troy.  He was a member of  Brunswick Church.  His passions were spending time at Forest Lake, sailing, his classic 1955 Thunderbird and could be found visiting nursing homes and libraries with his therapy dog Kringle.  His love for the sport of hockey started in high school and continued with coaching Troy youth hockey and supporting the RPI hockey team as a season ticket holder for many years.  Bob was also a dedicated member of the Naval Reserve in Troy after graduating high school.

He is survived by his two daughters, Heidi (Enzo) Carr, Syracuse, NY and Judi Goudreau, Lincoln, RI; his son, Robert C. (Fiance Jessica Huebner) Hinsdill, Boonville, NY; his sister, Nancy Hinsdill (Russell) Lewis, Cazenovia, NY; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his beloved and faithful dog, Kringle.
