Robert P. Higgins

North Greenbush - Robert P. Higgins, 73, died Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

Born in Lackawanna, NY, he was son of the late Dean E. Higgins and Rita Dugan Higgins. He was raised in Buffalo where he attended Canisius High School. Robert earned his Bachelor's Degree from Fordham University in 1971. After college, he joined the Peace Corps and was posted to Iran. Subsequently, he worked for GTE Sylvania in Algeria as well as a joint medical program between Georgetown University and the University of Tehran. In 1980 he accepted a position with RPI and settled in Troy. Robert was an analyst at the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services for 25 years, retiring in 2014.  
  
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eidin Beirne, his daughter, Clare (Timmy) Dunne, Rockaway Beach, NY; his siblings, Dean (Pam) J. Higgins, Saratoga Springs, William P. Higgins, Saratoga Springs and Mary (Carl) Johnson, Easton, MD and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy McNicholas and his brother, Paul R. Higgins.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church 55 North Lake Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Robert's family would like to extend their gratitude to the Samaritan Hospital and Hospice Staff for the care and kindness extended to him during his illness.
