East Nassau - Robert John Green, fondly known as Bob or Greenie, 75, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Born in Troy, Bob was the son of the late William Mixter Green, Jr. and Elaine Caroline Houle Green and the loving husband of Patricia Arlene Masterson Green.
After graduating from Columbia High School, Class of 1967, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in the Vietnam War. He later went on to obtain welding certifications from both Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland and Hudson Valley Community College. For nearly 20 years, he worked at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 2002. He also worked at McKinney Steel and Troy Sand & Gravel.
Greenie’s love for our country ran deep, and he supported fellow veterans by participating in motorcycle charity and awareness rides, and helping whenever there was a need. Most important to many, he will be remembered by the way his brown eyes sparkled when he put on this red suit and became Santa Claus. At times, arranging special gifts be given to those children that would not otherwise see their Christmas wishes come true. Lastly, all who knew Bob knew of his love of Labs, and while his dogs at home miss him dearly, we know he was greeted by his beloved Gunnar.
Besides the love of his life, Patty, Bob is survived by his two sons, Jason Green (Rebecca) and Joshua Green (Nicole); a step-daughter, Jamie Salerno (Michael); his precious grand-daughters, Jaylee, Kylie, Olivia and Sophia; and bonus grandchildren, Tyler, Mikaela, Bella, and Enzo; his siblings, William Green (Helen), Sharon Green and Linda Dayton (Robert), and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many dear friends including those from the Lois Wilson Memorial Breakfast Club, Kays Pizza and Lakeview Inn.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
