Troy - Robert J. Gallagher, 83, died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Joseph Gallagher and Lorraine Riley Gallagher (Fred) Peterson and husband of the late Helen F. Mosher Gallagher. He was raised in Troy and resided in Clifton Park and Latham and was a 1956 graduate of Waterford High School.
Bob was a Project Coordinator for Castine Movers in Massachusetts.
He was a volunteer for Our Lady of Hope Residence in Latham for many years, a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Lansingburgh where he was a Chaplain. Bob enjoyed travel, hiking and camping. He was an Army veteran stationed in Germany and North Carolina.
Survivors include three sons, Mark W. (Stacey) Gallagher, New Baltimore, Christopher M. (Nancy) Gallagher, Halfmoon and Matthew J. (Kathy) Gallagher, Sacandaga Lake; a step daughter, Mary Lee Callahan Plekan (Scott) Kiernan, Wynantskill; his grandchildren, Jason, Meghan, Brianna, Bryant, Brandon and David; four great grandchildren, Cameron, Kimberly, Ava and Callan; his step grandchildren, Bruce Michael Plekan, Krystina and Jerrod Plekan, David A. Bornt Jr. and Samantha, Jamie and Kelsey Bornt; his brother Michael (Marilyn) Gallagher; his half brother, Tommy (Darlene) Gallagher and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step son, Michael J. Callahan Jr. and a step daughter, Maureen Callahan Bornt and his siblings, Jack Gallagher, Joan Bouchard and Lorraine Kazan.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 10-11AM with a service to follow at 11AM with Rev. Edward Kacerguis, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Troy.
