Ricardo Bustamante

Brunswick - Ricardo Bustamante of Brunswick, born November 30, 1941, Bogota, Colombia, died peacefully at home September 4 after a long illness, in the arms of his adored and adoring wife and love of 37 years, Patricia McAuliff. He is also survived by his loving sister Stella Mora of Fort Lee, NJ, his brother Mauricio Mora of Aventura, Florida, and many dear friends and family both here and abroad. He is predeceased by his beloved mother Esther Mora, stepfather Dr. Francisco Mora, and brother Jairo Mora.

Ricardo emigrated to the US in 1964. His first job was at the Colombia pavilion at the Flushing, NY  World’s Fair. He became a New York city cab driver, then a medallion owner, acquiring a fleet of taxis in the 1960s and 1970s. He also invested in and developed properties in the Hudson Valley and Capital District areas, including personally building his and Patricia’s one-of-a-kind octagonal home. In his retirement he turned his attention to full-time volunteering for Werner Erhard and Associates,

which later became Landmark Education, a personal transformational growth organization. He proudly became a naturalized US citizen in 2002. His many interests included an array of healing arts, philosophies, gardening and natural nutrition. World travel with Patricia and friends who shared his interests consumed much of his later years. A kind friend, devoted husband, and gentle soul, his sweet countenance will be missed by all who loved him.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 10 AM at the funeral home and at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery Glenmont at a later date.
