Troy - Raymond E. Tilley, 92, of Woodlawn Court died Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Elmer R. Tilley and Hazel Pfeiffer Tilley and husband of the late Shirley Forman Tilley. He had resided in Troy all his life.
Ray was a lifelong auto mechanic and owned Ray's Portable Crankshaft Grinding. He also worked for Detroit Supply in the engine machine shop and as an auto mechanic and repairman for Bridge Sunoco Station and then Bridge Service Center for 20 years before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church. He participated in Men's Club functions and bowled on the church bowling team. Ray was a race car driver back in the 40's and 50's and enjoyed watching auto racing. He loved playing various forms of dominos, playing pinochle, doing puzzle books and visiting with his family. Ray was a jack of all trades.
Survivors include his children, Robert R. Tilley, Deborah F. Bryce, Beverly I. Kelly and Richard (Bonnie) Tilley; 11 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4-7PM. Face covering and social distancing are required both outside and inside during visitation.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens Colonie.
