Castleton On Hudson - Peter Charles Desmond, 61, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Marie Desmond. He was raised in Floral Park, graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and was an avid Miami Dolphins and NY Mets fan. He resided in Poestenkill with Martha Desmond, wife of 40 years, and his 4 children.
Peter shared his passion for hospitality and culinary arts as a certified Executive Chef for 25 years, an instructor for 13 years with Questar III in Columbia-Greene County, and an active member of the American Culinary Federation and Academy of Chefs.
Peter was a person of faith and lived life serving others. As a lector, eucharistic minister, and long-time parishioner, he was an active member and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Maryanne Barrett (Ryan Barrett); three sons, William Desmond, Daniel Desmond (Jessica Desmond), and Christopher Desmond (Miranda Desmond); five grandchildren, William and Eli Barrett, Olivia and Briella Desmond and Connor Desmond; his siblings, Diane Rosenfield, Paul Desmond, Gerard Desmond and Charles Desmond and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Desmond.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 4-7 PM.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Yanas, Pastor.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
