TROY - Paul Joseph Malek, age 65, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at home. He was born March 11, 1959, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Maloney) Malek. He was a 1977 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He received an associate’s degree from Hudson Valley Community College.
Paul was employed by Price Chopper at various locations for over 40 years. He was an avid Notre Dame, Cardinals, and Giants fan. Paul was a voracious reader and enjoyed his daily walks. He also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and was a fabulous cook. Many folks benefitted from his culinary kindness.
Paul’s greatest joy was his daughter, Rachel. She was the light of his life and brought him endless pride and joy. He was very proud of her accomplishments. Besides his loving daughter, Rachel, Paul is survived by his siblings Victoria (Richard Deiber), Lea McLeod, Jeanie Strauss, Eileen (Joseph Tally), Steven (Charleen), David (Tina) and 5 loving nieces, 4 beloved nephews and numerous cousins. Paul also enjoyed his time spent with Sara Teta, Anthony Ragosta, the Furciniti family and numerous extended Malek and Maloney family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, June, and brother-in-law, Dan McLeod.
The family will host a visitation from 10 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, November 2, followed by memorial service at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue in Troy.
