Troy - Paul William Gilmore, 91, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 4, 2024 after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late John Gilmore and Leah Reilly Gilmore and husband for 66 years of Arlene M. (McGuire) Gilmore. He was a resident of Troy, graduate of Sacred Heart School and Troy High School. A lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Paul served in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Roanoke as a weather man during the Korean War. Retired from the Troy Record newspaper (44 yrs.). A member of the Printers Union (representative/negotiator).
Paul enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and boating on Lake George. Paul and Arlene enjoyed traveling; ‘snowbirds’ to Florida and their 50th Anniversary celebration with family in Ireland. As a hobby, Paul enjoyed woodworking, restoring furniture and outdoor work. ‘Pop’ was fond of spending time with his grandchildren, swimming, boating and supporting their respective sports.
Survived by his three loving daughters with whom he shared a life-long bond; Laurie A. Gilmore, Troy, Maura L. Ogden, Waterford-Halfmoon and Erin M. Avery of Saratoga Springs (James Finlan). His grandchildren, Jordan (Lauren) and Scott (Samantha) Avery, Peyton Ogden (Nicole Cirelli) and Kiley Nadeau (Justin) and 3 great grandchildren. His brother Peter H. Gilmore (Helen), brother-in-law John McGuire (Barbara) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother John Gilmore, sister Annlee (Howard) Murphy and cousin Hope Watson (Robert).
Relatives and friends are invited to Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Yanas, Pastor.
Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville at 12:30PM.
