Nancy (Maloney) Mullin Flaherty

Rensselaer – With great sorrow, her children announce Mom entered into eternal peace on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

Nancy was born in Troy on October 30, 1937, the daughter of the late James L. Maloney and Janet Dickson Maloney. She resided in Troy most of her life. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School with honors, despite missing four years of classes due to rheumatic fever.  Nancy graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1956. 

Mom had several careers during her life.  She began at National Commercial Bank where she met our Dad, the love of her life, Donald M. Mullin.  They were married June 28, 1958. Dad passed away suddenly March 3, 1984 at the age of 50.   Mom then continued her career at Roxy Dry Cleaners, St. Joseph’s School, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonard Hospital, and SUNY Application Processing Center. Mom married Patrick J. Flaherty on September 8, 1996. They enjoyed time with family and friends and traveling, including two trips to Pat’s home county in Ireland.  Pat passed away April 28, 2014.  During her life, her most challenging and cherished career though was being Mom, Aunt Nancy, Gramma and Gigi to all her family.   

She was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis, the Perpetual Adoration at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel and the Red Hat Society.  She had a great devotion to Padre Pio and St. Francis and was active in the Sacred Heart Prayer Group.    

Survivors include her children, Marybeth Galluzzo, Kimberly (Ken) Brockway, Matthew (Marianne) Mullin, James (Michelle) Mullin, Michael (Diane) Mullin, Donald (Lisa) Mullin, Bryan (Joan) Mullin and Christian (Kimberly) Mullin; 24 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Karen (James) Benjamin and Valarie Bennett; an uncle, Paul (Fortunate) Maloney and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother, Michael P. Maloney.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church Pawling Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Yanas, Pastor. Face covering and social distancing are required both outside and inside during visitation and services.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
