Michael Stephen Burns

Scotia - Michael Stephen Burns, 61, died Friday, July 12, 2024, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Albany, he was the son of  Robert S. Burns and the late Noreen M. Cox Burns and husband of Tracy L. Ferris Burns. He lived in Ballston Spa for many years until moving to Scotia in 2005.

Michael was a town planner for the Town of Glenville for 17 years, retiring in 2021.

He was a hockey player who also loved the outdoors, spending time camping, hiking and fishing.    

Survivors in addition to his wife Tracy and father Robert, include his 2 children, Matthew (Kiera Blais) Burns, Scotia and McKenzie (Emmett) Berberich, Rotterdam; his grandson, Owen Blais; his siblings, Kathleen (T.J.) Zieziulewicz, Rensselaer and Robert W. (Michelle) Burns, West Sand Lake and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry's Church 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park on Thursday,  July 18, 2024 from 4- 7PM.                                

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11AM at St. Henry's Church  with Rev. John Cronin, Pastor, officiating. 

Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park.
