Mary "Susan" (Donnelly) Whalen

West Sand Lake - Mary 'Susan' Donnelly Whalen, 84, died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family, after a long  illness.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late Miles Donnelly and Rita Reardon Donnelly and wife of the late Royal E. Whalen. She had resided in Albany and resided in West Sand Lake since 72 and was a graduate of Vincentian Institute. 

Susan was an underwriter for D.A. Fazioli Insurance in Averill Park, Sand Lake and Troy for 16 years, retiring in 1999.  

She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church and a working homemaker enjoying spending time with her family.    

Survivors include three children, Kimberly Whalen, West Sand Lake, Christopher (Gerry Ann) Whalen, Colonie and Melissa (Frank) Glasser, Rensselaer; sister, Kathleen (Joseph) Giso, Guilderland; her grandchildren, Kayla Patanian, Elise (Nick) Testo, Meghan Patanian, Chelsea (Joseph) Hassett, Cassidhe (Charles) Moeske, Keith (Bryana) Glasser and Rachel (David) Talarico; her great grandchildren, Nico, Walker and Christopher and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the St. Michael the Archangel Church  175 Williams Road Troy on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 9-10AM and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM by Rev. Edward Kacerguis. 

A private interment will be in  St. Agnes Cemetery Menands.
