Mary (Duncan) Stowell

Brunswick - Mary Duncan Stowell, 82, died Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late R. John Duncan and Ruth Keller Duncan and wife for 60 years of Carl S. Stowell Sr. She had resided in Brunswick all her life in the same house and was a graduate of Troy High School.
    
Mary was a waitress and cook at her family’s restaurant Duncan's Dairy Bar on Hoosick Road in Brunswick most of her life and in later years, worked at Van Rensselaer Manor

She loved shopping, traveling, Aruba, reading and gardening.  

Survivors in addition to her husband include her three sons, Carl S. Stowell Jr., Brunswick, Duncan "Sam" (Debi Buzanowski-Stowell) Stowell, Halfmoon and Jason M. (Mackenzie) Stowell, Brunswick;  her brother J. Keller Duncan; her sisters, Margaret Squadrito and Virginia Ritrovato; her grandchildren, Penelope M. and Mallory A. Stowell and Alexander J. and Anthony M. Stowell and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Duncan and her brother John W. Whitman.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling AvenueTroy on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 9-11AM with a funeral service at 11AM with Rev. Jim Knapp, officiating.

Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery Menands.
